Trump Touts Rubio, Vance, Leaves Door Open

Aboard Air Force One en route to Japan, President Donald Trump sketched the GOP’s future while leaving room for himself. He named Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance as leading prospects for the 2028 nomination, praising Vance’s expanded role and gesturing to Rubio among reporters. Asked about Steve Bannon’s push for an unconstitutional third term, Trump said he’d “love to do it” but also that he hasn’t really thought about running again. “We have some really good people,” he said.
