President Donald Trump’s working lunch with Volodymyr Zelensky turned acrimonious, European officials said, as Trump pressed Ukraine to accept territorial concessions and later backed a ceasefire freezing current battle lines. The shift followed a call in which Vladimir Putin floated Ukraine surrendering Donbas for parts of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. Trump, who at times raised his voice, denied asking Kyiv to yield all of Donbas and said Ukraine could win, though he doubted it. A Ukrainian source called the White House meeting tense but constructive; Zelensky later endorsed a ceasefire along the existing front.
