With benefits set to lapse Saturday, a federal judge gave the Trump administration until no later than Monday to decide whether to issue at least partial SNAP payments for 42 million low-income people. Judge Indira Talwani said two dozen Democratic-led states were right to challenge the U.S. Department of Agriculture's suspension of the nation's largest anti-hunger program as unlawful, but she declined a temporary restraining order. Talwani said USDA must use emergency funds and noted other money is legally available, leaving the amount of any payments to the administration.
