FBI director says multiple people arrested in Michigan in Halloween weekend attack plot

Multiple people suspected of plotting a violent Halloween-weekend attack were arrested Friday in suburban Detroit, FBI Director Kash Patel said. Investigators, citing online chatroom discussions that referenced “pumpkin day,” believe the plan was inspired by Islamic State extremism, according to people briefed on the case. FBI and state police were near a Dearborn home by Fordson High School as people in FBI shirts moved in and out, collecting paper bags from an evidence truck; FBI personnel were also at an Inkster storage site. The FBI said there is no current threat. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer thanked authorities.
