California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed AB 1127, barring sales of new Glock handguns because their design can be easily modified with 3D-printed switches to fire automatically. Possession and used sales remain legal. Sponsor Jesse Gabriel said the bill aims to push Glock to redesign its pistols; the company did not respond to a request for comment. A gun store owner predicted little impact, noting millions in circulation and an unapproved model meant to block switches. Deborah Grimes, whose son was killed with a modified Glock in 2022, urged Glock to change its design. The bill passed on party lines.
