Lego MRI sets help kids face scans

After a diagnosis of rare brain and spine cancer, 14-year-old Sam Lane helped assemble a Lego MRI set at Boston Children's Hospital, a tool now easing other kids' fears. Lego said Monday that more than 1 million children worldwide have used the sets, and research found 96% of healthcare professionals see reduced anxiety, with 46% reporting less need for sedation. Child life specialists say the hands-on play demystifies the loud, unfamiliar machines. Sam's mother called the project essential support; now over a year cancer-free, Sam says he can even sleep through his scans.
