Florida executed Norman Mearle Grim Jr., 65, on Tuesday for the 1998 rape and murder of his neighbor, Cynthia Campbell, marking the state’s record 15th execution this year. The curtain rose at 6 p.m. at Florida State Prison; Grim, strapped to a table, declined a final statement. He was injected with a three-drug protocol, pronounced dead at 6:14 p.m. DNA evidence had tied him to the killing. Florida leads the nation in executions this year. Grim waived further appeals and received no visitors. Two more executions are scheduled next month under warrants signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
