Hormel recalls 4.9M pounds of chicken over metal

Hormel is recalling nearly 5 million pounds of food-service ready-to-eat frozen chicken after multiple complaints of metal fragments in chicken breast and thigh products, federal officials said. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service reported no injuries and said Hormel determined the metal came from a conveyor belt during production. The products, distributed nationwide to HRI Commercial Food Service between Feb. 10 and Sept. 19, may have reached hotels or other food service institutions. The recall covers about 4,874,815 pounds; a list of the recalled products is available.
