The UN General Assembly voted 145-5 to allow Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to address the annual meeting via video after the U.S. revoked his visa. Abbas had planned to attend a meeting focused on a two-state solution, a plan opposed by the U.S. which cited Hamas' actions. The U.S. revoked visas for around 80 Palestinian officials, a move criticized by the UN and several allies as violating its Host Country agreement. France and Saudi Arabia proposed a phased plan for a Palestinian state, but the Israeli government remains opposed.
