California’s Proposition 50 holds a solid lead, with 60% of likely voters in a Berkeley IGS Times poll backing Gov. Gavin Newsom’s plan to allow a mid decade redraw of congressional districts; 38% oppose and just 2% are undecided. Awareness is unusually high, fueled by roughly $158 million in ads, including spots featuring former President Obama, Newsom and Sen. Elizabeth Warren. Support is overwhelmingly Democratic and strong in Los Angeles County and the Bay Area, while Republicans largely oppose it. Early voters favor the measure 67% to 33%, but 70% of expected Election Day voters say they’ll vote no.
