Diane Ladd, the versatile actor whose career spanned more than six decades and earned three Oscar nominations, died Monday at her home in Ojai, California. She was 89. Her daughter, Laura Dern, called her my amazing hero and praised her as a beloved artist and mother. Ladd was acclaimed for Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Wild at Heart, and Rambling Rose, the last making her and Dern the first mother-daughter duo nominated in the same year. She worked steadily in film and television, earning Emmy nominations and recently appearing on Young Sheldon.
