After betting odds on Polymarket abruptly swung from 3.75% to nearly 73% for Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, the Nobel Institute said a potential pre-announcement leak was highly likely the result of espionage. Director Kristian Berg Harpviken told TV2 the institute will investigate and tighten security, while committee chair Jorgen Watne Frydnes insisted he does not believe names have ever leaked. Machado won for her work advancing democratic rights in Venezuela. A video showed Harpviken, visibly moved, phoning Machado before the public announcement; she responded, “Oh my God… I have no words.”
