Motorcyclist wanted in connection with deputy's killing is stopped by off-duty officer during high-speed chase

An off-duty sheriff’s deputy ended a 150-mph freeway chase by steering an unmarked Toyota Camry into the path of a motorcyclist suspected of fatally shooting San Bernardino County Deputy Andrew Nunez, 28, in Rancho Cucamonga, authorities said. Nunez, a six-year veteran and father, was shot in the head after responding to a gun-threat call shortly after 12:30 p.m. The pursuit on the 210 Freeway in Upland ended about 1:35 p.m.; the rider was hospitalized and is expected to be booked on suspicion of murder. Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered flags lowered and praised Nunez’s service.
