Record Revenue, Tax Charge Weighs on Meta

Meta posted a record third-quarter revenue of $51.2 billion, up 26%, but a one-time $15.93 billion tax charge tied to the U.S. One Big Beautiful Bill Act slashed profit and sent results below expectations. Net income fell to $2.71 billion, or $1.05 per share, versus a $6.69 consensus; excluding the charge, EPS would have been $7.25. Daily users across its apps reached 3.54 billion, up 8%. Reality Labs lost $4.43 billion on $470 million revenue. Meta guided Q4 revenue to $56–$59 billion and lifted 2025 capex to $70–$72 billion, with even higher spending expected for AI infrastructure in 2026.
