SNAP could restart Wednesday after court orders

SNAP aid may resume as early as Wednesday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said, after two federal judges in Massachusetts and Rhode Island ordered the administration to use emergency funds during the shutdown. Rhode Island’s Judge Jack McConnell urged payment “as soon as possible,” while Boston Judge Indira Talwani gave officials until Monday to say whether reduced November benefits will be authorized. The administration, once set to cut aid Nov. 1, will not appeal, Bessent said. On Truth Social, President Donald Trump said he is exploring options and asked lawyers to seek court guidance on funding SNAP.
