FBI fires official amid Patel jet fallout

Steven Palmer, a 27-year FBI veteran and deputy assistant director of the Critical Incident Response Group, was fired Friday, Bloomberg reported, days after stories alleged Kash Patel used an FBI jet for a date. Bloomberg sources said Palmer was told to resign or be terminated, at least partly tied to negative Patel coverage, and were baffled he was blamed since flight logs are public. Public data showed a flight to Penn State and Nashville; a now-deleted Instagram post placed Patel there. Assistant Director for Public Affairs Ben Williamson defended leadership as multiple CIRG chiefs have been pushed out.
