The Louvre reopened Wednesday to long lines, three days after thieves stole eight Crown Jewels in a sub–four-minute raid near the Mona Lisa, valued at about €88 million. The Apollo Gallery remains sealed as about 100 investigators probe the getaway on motorbikes; four people have been identified, but no arrests. One emerald-set crown was found damaged outside. Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin conceded “we have failed,” intensifying scrutiny of security, staffing and leadership as President Emmanuel Macron and Louvre chief Laurence des Cars face questions.
