Deadly I-10 Truck Crash Prompts Federal Actions

Authorities say a Freightliner semi driven by 21-year-old Jashanpreet Singh, allegedly under the influence of drugs, set off a fiery chain-reaction crash on California’s I-10, killing three and injuring at least four. Dashcam video shows the truck plowing into slowed traffic, veering onto the shoulder and striking more vehicles; eight, including four commercial, were involved. Singh was booked on vehicular manslaughter and DUI, held without bail, and due in court Thursday. DHS said he is in the U.S. illegally, entering via the southern border in 2022. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy condemned the crash and cited restrictions and withheld funds.
