Mass shooting at South Carolina bar leaves 4 people dead, more than 20 injured

An early Sunday shooting at Willie’s Bar and Grill on St. Helena Island left four people dead and at least 20 injured, Beaufort County authorities said. Deputies arrived to a large crowd as victims and witnesses ran to nearby businesses seeking shelter. Four of the wounded were in critical condition at area hospitals; officials have not released the victims’ identities. The sheriff’s office urged patience during the investigation, while U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace called the violence “devastating” and said her prayers were with those affected.
