The FBI arrested more than 30 people in a sweeping illegal gambling crackdown, including NBA figures Terry Rozier, Chauncey Billups and Damon Jones, and alleged New York mafia members. Two indictments accuse defendants of using non‑public team information to place fraudulent sports bets and of running rigged underground poker games that allegedly bilked victims of at least $7m with x‑ray tables and marked cards. The NBA put Rozier and Billups on leave; Billups was released under travel and gambling restrictions, while Tiago Splitter was named Portland’s interim coach. Lawyers for Rozier and Billups disputed prosecutors’ claims.
