Blue Jays hit first leadoff back-to-back homers in World Series history

Toronto opened Game 5 with a jolt: Davis Schneider drilled Blake Snell’s first pitch for his first postseason homer, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. followed two pitches later with a 394-foot shot—the first back-to-back homers to start a World Series game. Guerrero’s blast was his Blue Jays-record eighth this postseason; he homered in Game 4 off Shohei Ohtani. Snell, who had allowed one homer in his previous 50 innings and struggled in the series opener, ditched the fastball after three. Schneider’s swing also marked Toronto’s first time scoring first in this World Series, which was even after Tuesday’s 6-2 win.
