Family Tip Stops Alleged Airport Shooting Plot

Police say a family tip and swift coordination stopped a potential shooting at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Authorities arrested 49-year-old Billy Joe Cagle inside the South Terminal less than 15 minutes after a warning from Cartersville police; his Chevrolet truck outside held a Springfield AR-15 and 27 rounds. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said many lives may have been saved and described Cagle as in a mental health crisis. Investigators believe he was scouting the area after livestreaming that he would "shoot it up," Atlanta Police Chief Darren Schierbaum said. Cagle faces multiple charges, including terroristic threats and firearm offenses.
