Trump dangles prospect of Mar-a-Lago visit for Xi

President Donald Trump said he expects to visit China next year, with President Xi Jinping likely to travel to the U.S. afterward, as U.S. and Chinese officials said they had reached a framework for a trade deal ahead of Thursday’s APEC summit in South Korea. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said it would prevent Chinese export controls on rare earths, not proceed with 100 percent tariffs set for Nov. 1, and include a final deal on TikTok’s U.S. sale. Trump said both sides may make concessions, warned 157 percent tariffs aren’t sustainable for China, and voiced respect for Xi.
