US-listed exchange-traded funds surpassed annual inflow records by the end of September 2026, driven by strong equity and technology sector demand. State Street Investment Management data shows year-to-date inflows reached over one point five four trillion dollars, eclipsing the previous full-year record of one point five two trillion dollars set in 2025. Global head of research strategists Matthew Bartolini projects total inflows will hit two point three trillion dollars by year end. Equity funds led performance with over one trillion dollars, followed by fixed income at over four hundred sixty-nine billion dollars. Technology sector funds captured over fifty-nine billion dollars, while financials saw outflows exceeding three point eight billion dollars. US-focused stock funds attracted six hundred fifty-five billion dollars, and international developed market funds gained one hundred fifty billion dollars. Despite inflation concerns driven by Middle East geopolitical tensions and rising bond yields, major instruments like the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF posted double-digit gains.
