New York City is digging out after a drenching storm set rainfall records and flooded streets, basements and transit. Central Park logged its highest daily total in more than a century; LaGuardia and Newark also broke records, and at least two men died in flooded basements in Brooklyn and Upper Manhattan. Airports, subways and NJ Transit were disrupted as trees fell and winds gusted past 50 mph. A wind advisory lasts Friday from 10 a.m. to midnight, with 45–50 mph gusts, blustery Halloween conditions, and calmer weather for marathon weekend.
